The founder-president of the Jana Sena Party (JSP) Pawan Kalyan held a day-long protest program in support of the land oustees and workers of the Vizag Steel Plant (VSP) at his party headquarters in Amaravathi.
The day-long fasting program concluded in the evening, with party leaders offering lemon juice to Kalyan to end his fast.
Speaking on the occasion, Kalyan came down heavily on the attitude of the ruling YSR Congress Party towards the issues of the plant.
He alleged that CM Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was adopting double standards on the issue of the privatisation of the plant, and said that all political parties should come together to protect the interests of the state.
He also claimed that union Home Minister Amit Shah had promised him that Amaravati would be recognized as the state's capital, but that the YSRCP leaders were asking him to fight with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue.
He however said that the YSRCP leaders were not the enemies of his party, and that he was only opposing the policies of the ruling party.
He also claimed that his party would come to the minds of the people of the state whenever they faced any problems, and not just when they were to cast their votes, as it always worked for the welfare of the people of the state despite facing defeats in various elections.
He also asked the party workers to not work just to get any posts.
