Sripeetham peethadipathi Swami Paripoornananda today joined the BJP in the presence of party president Amit Shah.
The seer, who arrived in New Delhi, went to the residence of Shah along with party national general secretary Ram Madhav, and announced his decision to join and work for the party. Shah welcomed him by wrapping a shawl around him and handing over the membership slip to him.
Speaking to the media later, Paripoornananda said that the country was moving forward under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said he did not expect any post in the party, and he would strive to spread the BJP ideology in the country.
He also thanked the people, particularly the Telugu-speaking people, who wholeheartedly extended their support to him all through his life till now.
Paripoornananda said that he was on a deeksha on the occasion of Dassera, and after a thorough self-introspection during the navaratris, finally decided to join the BJP to spread its ideology in the country.
Paripoornananda said that he would work for the party for 17 hours each day, and would strive to protect dharma and culture in the country till his last breath. He also said that he would stop his daily work of preaching of the Bhagavad Gita and saadhana.
Paripoornananda has been in the news since some time ago when the TRS government had announced his externment from Hyderabad.
The BJP Telangana unit welcomed Paripoornanada. "We are very glad that a spiritual guru of his stature has decided to join our party unconditionally to strengthen it," said Krishna Saagar Rao, BJP spokesperson. "The state unit of the party will look forward to his contribution. His joining will certainly add immense value to the BJP in Telangana."
