The procurement of paddy was going on at a brisk pace and the process will be continued till the last grain was purchased, claimed Rythu Bandu Samithi president Palla Rajeshwar Reddy.
Speaking to media persons on Sunday along with MLA Balka Suman, Reddy alleged that the Opposition parties were trying to disturb the ongoing procurement process, and were creating many obstacles in a bid to malign the image of the State government.
Denying the allegations levelled by Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy that the process was erratic and inefficient, Rajeshwar Reddy said that Revanth Reddy's remarks were totally false, and that he was only attempting to misguide the farmers.
Rajeshwar Reddy also criticized Revanth Reddy for alleging that over 8,000 farmers had committed suicides during the tenure of the TRS government.
"In fact, the suicides of farmers have completely come down in Telangana after we took over. It has become possible because of the effective measures taken by our government. The same has been corroborated by Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Thomar in Parliament," he claimed.
The TRS MLC alleged that it was in fact the union government that was working against the interest of the farmers. "Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao agreed to purchase the entire paddy produce from the farmers despite that resulting in a Rs 3,000-crore additional burden on the State government," he said.
