The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) will hold the centenary celebrations of the former Prime Minister of the country P V Narasimha Rao on July 24.
A meeting of the party's leaders held under the chairpersonship of J Geeta Reddy at Gandhi Bhavan took that decision.
The meeting was attended by TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, MP A Revanth Reddy, honorary chairman of the committee V Hanumantha Rao, committee vice chairman D Sridhar Babu, committee convenor Mahesh Goud, and MLA Seethakka.
Speaking on the occasion Reddy said that the party was planning to hold the celebrations on July 24 as it was on that day many years back that the former PM had addressed Parliament for the first time on the reforms being introduced in the country.
He said that the committee would make arrangements to allow the participation of 1,000 people in the program using Zoom.
He added that the committee would also arrange a big LCD screen at Indira Bhavan for the convenience of the participants.
Reddy said that former PM Manmohan Singh, and former union ministers P Chidambaram and Jairam Ramesh, would also take part in the celebrations through Zoom.
Reddy termed Rao as a "100%" Congress leader. He said that Rao had begun his career as an ordinary worker of the party, and rose to hold the posts of MLA, state minister, PCC chief, CM, union minister and then PM, and that the party leaders were proud to be part of the centenary celebrations.
He said that a family member of the former PM, P V Manohar Rao, would act as the patron of the celebrations, and that all other family members of Rao would also attend the celebrations.
