Kushaiguda was abuzz with activity on Wednesday after the discovery of a brutal double-murder of an old couple by unidentified criminals.
According to police, the murders were committed for gain, as jewellery was believed to be missing from the residence of the couple.
The old couple, D Laxmana Murthy (70) and his wife Krishnavani (62), was residing at Ashoknagar Colony in Kushaiguda in an independent house.
Murthy was a retired railway employee, and his wife was a housewife. The couple was residing in the same house since several years.
The brutal murders were discovered by a neighbour who went to visit the old couple early on Wednesday morning. He raised an alarm, and soon, the police were called in.
Initial investigations reveal that some gold ornaments were missing from the house. Police have pressed the CLUES team into service.
The bodies have been shifted to Gandhi Hospital for autopsies.
