Hyderabad | 9th December 2009
And now, for the noises from the north. JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) students have also joined the Telangana agitation, some of who have met the CM who is in Delhi currently. A decision on the Telangana issue will be announced this evening after the Core Committee meeting of the Congress that is on now.
Andhra Pradesh is awaiting the Centre’s stand with bated breath - the T^-movement so far has been characterized by mob violence, students’ unrest, the shutting down of universities, and the destruction of private property. With transportation, entertainment complexes, cinema halls, restaurants and pubs having been forced to shut down during the 2-day bandh the weekend past, FAPCCI (Federation of AP Chambers of Commerce & Industry) has pegged the loss to the city at Rs. 250 crores.
Hyderabad is all buttressed with heavy security, with around 10,000 personnel from the CRPF and the RAF deployed all over town. The Joint Action Committee has called for a Chalo Assembly peace rally tomorrow, and there might be traffic restrictions in the city.
KCR’s condition continues to be critical, and the CM Rosaiah has requested that he stop the agitation.
