No Shortage Of Staff In PHCs: D L
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr D L Ravindra Reddy denied a shortage of staff, doctors and basic amenities in the primary health centres in the state.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr D L Ravindra Reddy denied a shortage of staff, doctors and basic amenities in the primary health centres in the state.
Replying to a question raised by CPI MLA G Mallesh and others during Question Hour in the State Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, the minister said that there are 1707 PHCs functioning in the state. However, he said, some PHCs, which were upgraded from government dispensaries, mobile medical units and subsidiary health centres, did not have all the basic amenities PHCs are supposed to be equipped with.
"District Collectors have been permitted to recruit Medical Officers locally in all the PHCs in the state on a contract basis as and when the vacancies arise. The paramedical recruitment is under process. The required basic amenities will be provided soon, and the government is releasing Rs. 1.75 lakhs to each PHC under the National Rural Health Mission every year to meet basic emergency amenities," the minister said.
