In a major setback to the Central Bureau Of Investigation, the CBI special court at Nampally, on Monday, dismissed its petition seeking permission to conduct narco tests on both YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and his financial auditor Vijay Sai Reddy in connection with the disproportionate assets case.
The special court, while rejecting the CBI's petition, observed that there was no need to conduct narco tests on Jaganmohan Reddy and Vijay Sai Reddy.
Earlier, the CBI counsel had charged that Jagan and Vijay Sai Reddy were not cooperating, and that they were reluctant to reveal anything despite persistent questioning about their alleged illegal assets.
However, Jagan's counsel Ashok Bhan objected to the CBI's plea, arguing that filing such a petition was "strange", in view of the Supreme Court's ruling that such tests were illegal; and added that they were a violation of the legal rights of his clients.
Concurring with the views of Jagan's counsel, the special court dismissed the CBI's petition. (INN)
