No Names Missing Voter Lists: CEO
The CEO denied charges by some political parties that the names of some voters were missing from the voters' lists in Nizamabad Urban assembly constituency.
Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao on Tuesday denied charges by some political parties that the names of some voters were missing from the voters' lists in Nizamabad Urban assembly constituency.
Talking to media persons at his chambers in the Secretariat, Subba Rao said that all contestants were shown the voters' list on 5 separate occasions, and that they had raised no objections at any time.
He said that a protest by some persons believed to be affiliated to some political parties that their names were missing from the voters' list was baseless.
The CEO said that he had not received complaints of any problems from the 12 assembly constituencies in which voting is taking place, till 4:30pm.
Earlier, activists of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the Bharatiya Janata Party tried to gherao the residence of Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas, alleging that he has brought voters from outside the constituency to vote on his behalf.
Police had to resort to a mild lathi-charge to disperse the protestors.
