Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy today said that there was no restriction on the cultivation of paddy for the upcoming agriculture season, but appealed to the farmers to focus on profitable crops rather than the traditional paddy cultivation.
Reddy said that despite the fact that the union government was refusing to procure the paddy produced in Telangana, the State government had decided to purchase the entire paddy produce of the Yasangi season.
However, though paddy was a traditional crop in the State, there were several other crops including cotton, pulses and other commercial crops which gave good benefits to the farmers, and the farmers should focus on cultivating such profitable crops, he said.
