The Chief Minister said that his government had the required numbers, and that the no trust motion would be easily defeated. "No party wants my government to fall," he said.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said that his government was ready to face and defeat the vote of no confidence tabled by TRS.
Talking to reporters in his chambers in the Assembly premises, the Chief Minister said that his government had the required numbers, and that the no trust motion would be easily defeated. He also claimed that no party wanted his government to fall, and that some parties were trying to destabilise the government. He also claimed that a no confidence motion would only strengthen his government.
The Chief Minister also ruled out passing a resolution on separate Telangana State. He said that the statehood issue was being resolved by the Centre, and that the role of the State Assembly would come into picture only after the Centre announces its decision.
When asked about MLAs defecting to other parties, Kiran Kumar Reddy said that action would be taken against them as per the rules at an appropriate time.
Kiran Kumar Reddy also claimed that the Congress party would return to power after 2014 elections, and would win more number of seats than in the 2009 elections. He said that the party would select the hardworking and sincere candidates for the next elections.
The Chief Minister evaded a direct reply on the proposal to field former Indian Cricket Team captain Mohammad Azharuddin from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat. He said that Azhar was his good friend. He also claimed that the Congress had remained unaffected after the MIM severed its ties with the party. He said that the minorities in the state were still with the Congress party. (INN)
