Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau this morning raided the residence of the former director of the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Dr Dharma Rakshak, and seized a number of files and documents of an incriminating nature relating to the Rs. 3-crore scam in the hospital.
The officials seized some cash, too.
Following complaints that Dr Rakshak, who worked as the NIMS director during 2013-14, had taken unilateral decisions regarding the purchase of medical equipment for the hospital and had committed irregularities to the tune of over Rs 3 crores, a 15-member team of ACB officials led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravi Kumar swooped down on his house on Thursday.
Dr Rakshak is also alleged to have amassed huge amounts of money disproportionate to his known sources of income. Given the evidence gathered in the raid, the ACB officials registered a case under the Anti-Corruption Act.
