The railway budget for 2011-12 presented on February 25th has many new trains for Andhra Pradesh.
Hyderabad | 26th February 2011
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy welcomed the Railway Budget 2011-12 tabled in the Lok Sabha on Friday, describing it as the "common man’s welfare budget."

He thanked, and expressed a deep sense of gratitude on behalf of the people of the state to, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Minister for Railways Mamata Banerjee.

Kiran Kumar Reddy appreciated the concessions announced for physically-challenged persons on the fares for the Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express trains. He welcomed the proposed Pradhan Mantri Rail Vikas Yojana for 114 socially-desirable projects, and the 50% concession for press correspondents. He also commended the budget for creating a separate sports cadre in the Railways to encourage young talent in the country.

The Railway Minister has sought to strengthen the suburban railway system of Hyderabad-Secunderabad by implementing 6 projects under MMTS Phase-II. All the socially desirable projects that have been surveyed recently will be included in the 12th Plan and financed through the proposed Pradhan Mantri Rail Vikas Yojana.

The new trains announced are in three categories. The first category, including superfast/premium travel, has the Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam AC Duronto (tri-weekly) and the Shatabdi Express (Pune-Secunderabad).

The second category consists of express trains: the Tirupati-Amravati Express (bi-weekly) via Akola-Nizamabad-Gooty-Dharmavaram, the Visakhapatnam-Koraput Intercity Express (5 days a week) via Vizianagram, the Howrah-Secunderabad Express (weekly) via Kharagpur, the Hyderabad-Darbhanga Express (weekly) via Muri-Jharsuguda-Nagpur, the Howrah-Tirupati Express (weekly), the Narsapur-Nagarsol Express (bi-weekly) via Secunderabad-Nizamabad, the Digha-Visakhapatnam Express (weekly) and the Howrah-Visakhapatnam Express (weekly).

The third category consists of passenger trains: the Tirupati-Guntakal Passenger (daily), the Falaknuma-Medchal Passenger, the Mriyalguda-Nadikudi Passenger and the Kacheguda-Raichur Passenger.

The budget also proposes to run 10 additional services on the Falaknuma-Lingampalli, Lingampalli-Hyderabad and Hyderabad-Falaknuma sections.
