To give a boost to the Information Technology (IT) sector and encourage IT exports from Telangana, the State government is coming up with a new IT policy in the first week of April.
Along with Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is to unveil the IT policy at HICC on April 4.
IT and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao disclosed this, and said he had ambitious plans for making the IT exports of Telangana surpass those of Bengaluru.
As mentioned, the policy aims not only to augment the IT sector growth in the State, but also to increase IT exports in a big way.
Areas that will come under the ambit of the new IT policy are gaming, animation and startups - fast-growing areas that will rejuvenate the State's economy and improve employability.
The new IT policy will unveil the government's plan to provide subsidies to IT and electronic companies in a big way. It will also outline the mechanisms for giving a boost to exports from the State, which were put at Rs 65,258 crores during 2015-16, to Rs 1.22 lakh crores by 2019-20.
It is likely that the new IT policy may help the budget for 2016-17 which is pegged at Rs 1.30 lakh crores, since the government showed in it an increase of 15% in IT exports.
