The postal department on Thursday denied reports of the Money Order service being withdrawn.
"The money order service has been an age-old service, which is time-tested, accurate, reliable and efficient. To make it more effective, technology was inducted. Thereby new services like eMO, Instant Money Order, Mobile Money Order service were brought into vogue, which were found to be user-friendly. In fact eMO is an electronic format of the traditional Money Orders, which enables MO payment at the doorstep, drastically cutting down physical transmission," informed B V Sudhakar, Chief Postmaster General, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana.
"Some reports are appearing in the newspapers stating that the Money Order service is being withdrawn. This is incorrect. Such negative publicity is creating unnecessary apprehension in the public domain. On the contrary, the service is being strengthened by using technology, for the public benefit. The endeavour of the department would be to provide better services," he said. (INN)
