Seethakka's Family Stopped From Visiting Hospital

Some family members of Congress leader Seethakka were reportedly stopped by some personnel of the city police from visiting a hospital today.
Hyderabad | 3rd June 2021
The family members of Congress leader and MLA Seethakka were reportedly stopped by some personnel of the city police from visiting a hospital today.

The family alleged that the Malkajgiri DCP Rakshita Murthy did not allow them to visit a hospital even though they had a vehicle e-pass that granted the requisite permissions to move about.

The family said that they were going to a hospital to donate plasma to Seethakka's ailing mother, the condition of whose health had "deteriorated" after she contracted Covid-19, and that they had obtained the vehicle pass from the Mulugu Collector's office before visiting the city to avoid any legal hassles while doing so.

The outraged family alleged that the DCP had even imposed a fine on them, citing their "violation" of the rules of the state's ongoing lockdown.

"Though the subordinates of the DCP allowed us to eventually go to the hospital after the DCP left from the area, we are deeply aggrieved by the officer's behaviour," they said.

The MLA herself responded on the matter through a post on her official Twitter handle. In the post, she alleged that the DCP had "misbehaved" with her family and had used abusive language while speaking to them. She also criticised Murthy for not even deigning to speak to her despite the fact that she made a video call to the official
