Union Minister for Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu took note of the missing of ace mountaineer Malli Mastan Babu of Nellore.
Naidu has taken up the matter with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. He wrote a letter to Swaraj three days back, and has been enquiring about the progress from time to time.
Swaraj informed him that she had already instructed the Indian Embassy officials in Argentina to take the necessary steps to find out the whereabouts and the status of the well-being of Mastan Babu.
Naidu again spoke to Swaraj today, and requested her to direct the Embassy officials to enhance the search operations by using a helicopter at the expense of the Indian embassies of Argentina and Chile.
According to the Embassy officials, they have no information about Mastan Babu.
Naidu also spoke to Dr Dorasanamma, sister of Mastan Babu, and conveyed to her the efforts being made to trace the whereabouts of Rao. He assured her that all the necessary steps would be taken.
Dr Dorasanamma thanked the minister for his kind gesture. (INN)
