The contestants of the Miss World competition visited the Old City of Hyderabad today.
The beauty queens from 109 countries were welcomed with a red carpet at the historic Charminar, accompanied by traditional Arabic marcha music. The contestants captured the beauty of the Charminar and the surrounding areas on their cell phones. Following this, a special photo shoot was organised near the Charminar.
Later, the women went shopping at nine famous shops in Lad Bazaar. Arrangements were made to divide them into four groups, with each group assigned to shop at two different stores. In addition to purchasing bangles, pearl necklaces and other decorative items, the contestants witnessed the bangle manufacturing process firsthand.
A heritage walk was then organised, taking the contestants from Charminar to Chowmohalla Palace to visit historical monuments and learn about their past. As part of the walk, the contestants visited famous landmarks such as Mecca Masjid, Chowmohalla Palace, Badhshahi Ashur Khana, Khilwat Mubarak and Laad Bazaar, all of which have played an important role in the history of Hyderabad. Local guides explained the history and architectural features of each site to the contestants.
The police imposed a traffic diversion to prevent disruptions to the heritage walk. In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, all streets of the Old City were placed under police control. Madina, Charminar, Shalibanda, Volga Junction and Khilwat roads were completely closed. Traffic restrictions were imposed until 11 pm today.
