Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy strongly defended the nomination of T Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy as the party's candidate for the Medak Lok Sabha by-elections.
Speaking to media persons, Kishan Reddy countered the allegations of the TRS which was projecting Jagga Reddy as anti-Telangana.
He said that Jagga Reddy was with the BJP when the party adopted a resolution of "One Vote, Two States" by announcing its support for the formation of Telangana in 1998. Jagga Reddy had quit the BJP for some reasons and had only rejoined the party now, Kishan Reddy said.
And if the TRS could give a ticket to Konda Surekha, then what was wrong in the BJP giving a ticket to Jagga Reddy, Kishan Reddy asked.
Kishan Reddy also stated that the BJP never gave tickets on the basis of money. He said that the BJP had always nominated people who believed in its ideology.
For good measure, he also added that the failures of the TRS government, the non-waiver of farm loans, the power crisis, the fee reimbursment and other issues would be the BJP's agenda for the Medak by-polls. (INN)
