Forum For Utilization Of Godavari Waters Chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy today urged the Telangana government to ask the Centre to accord National Status for the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project, and claimed that the State's treasury would be burdened with Rs. 75,000 crores if that did not happen.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Reddy asked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to reveal why the Telangana government was hesitant to demand National Status for the project.
The TRS-led government had requested National Status for the Pranahita-Chevella project, but was not ready to do the same for Kaleshwaram, he said.
He demanded that the government make a detailed report of the project and present it in an all-Party meeting.
