Irrigation officials of Telangana and Maharashtra today opened the gates of the Babli project in Maharashtra, as per the directions of the Supreme Court and the Central Water Commission, paving the way for the flow of the water to the downstream areas, including Telangana.
The CWC had directed the Maharashtra government to keep the gates of the Babli project open from July 1 to October 28 every year.
The water released from Babli will reach the Sri Ram Sagar Project in Nizamabad district in the next 32 hours.
