The doctors at the Forensic Department, Osmania Hospital, said on Tuesday that Gangula Suryanarayana Reddy alias Maddelacheruvu Suri had died on the spot where he was shot, contrary to the statement made by doctors at the Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills on Monday evening.
The Apollo Hospital doctors had said that Suri, the prime accused in the murder of former minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Paritala Ravi, had died of a massive cardiac arrest at 7.55 pm after he was brought there.
Talking to media persons after conducting the postmortem on Suri's body, Forensic Department Head in the Osmania Hospital, Narayana Reddy, said that Suri had received 2 bullet injuries on the right side of his brain from backside and one bullet injury on right side of neck.
Reddy said the bullets were fired from a close range from the fire arm. This close range was about 2 to 3 inches from Suri's head.
The bullet injury on neck had completely damaged the vertebral column and the 2 bullets in the brain had completely damaged his nervous system.
Reddy said that Apollo Hospital doctors made their attempts to save the life of Suri, and conducted routine medical tests as per the protocol.
Meanwhile, the police handed over Suri's body to his wife Bhanumathi and son Harshavardhan Reddy after the postmortem at Osmania mortuary.
The family members are shifting his body to Maddelacheruvu, his native place in Anantapur district, for the last rites. The last rites would be conducted on Wednesday at 9 am.
Earlier, Revenue Minister Raghuveera Reddy on Tuesday visited Osmania hospital and paid tributes to Suri. Condemning the brutal murder, Raghuveera Reddy called upon factionists to shun their arms and live peacefully among the mainstream.
