M S Prabhakar Welcomes Shabbir Ali As Leader Of Opposition

The Congress MLC said Shabbir Ali fully deserved the post as he was among the senior-most leaders of the Congress party in Telangana.

Congress MLC M S Prabhakar welcomed the appointment of Mohammed Ali Shabbir as the Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Council.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, Prabhakar said that Shabbir Ali fully deserved the post as he was among the senior-most leaders of the Congress party in Telangana.

He said that Shabbir Ali was promoted as the Leader of the Party in the Legislative Council so as to also give proper representation to the minorities.

He said that while the posts of the TPCC chief and the Opposition Leader in the Assembly were being given to leaders of the Reddy community, a Dalit had been made the party's Working President. Therefore, Shabbir Ali's selection for the post of the Leader of the Opposition in the Council was absolutely justified.

Prabhakar also slammed a section of media for publishing false and misleading reports about MLCs not being happy over Shabbir Ali's elevation to the post. He alleged that a section of media had been carrying such stories only to mislead the people to project the Congress party as a divided house.

He said that all the MLCs had welcomed the decision taken by the Congress High Command. (INN)
