Panchayat Raj Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Monday demanded that the central government grant Special Status to Telangana.
Speaking to media persons, KTR said that the Centre should implement all the provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and grant Special Status to Telangana.
He claimed that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who was currently in Delhi, had made effective representations to the Centre on issues concerning Telangana.
Besides seeking funds for various projects, he said that the Chief Minister had demanded expediting clearances for different projects of Telangana.
He also expressed hope that the Centre would provide the required assistance to Telangana and announce a special package in the forthcoming budget session of the Parliament.
KTR also reiterated the demand that the Centre establish a mega powerloom cluster in Sircilla of the Karimnagar district. He expressed hope that the Centre would give clearances for the powerloom cluster in the forthcoming budget.
He also announced that a special plan was being prepared to prevent suicides by weavers. (INN)
