Minister for IT and Industries K T Rama Rao today laid the foundation stone for the construction of an IT Tower at Malakpet in the Old City.

The 21-storey tower which will be state-of-the-art will be constructed in a sprawling 10-acre area with a massive construction area of 20 lakh sq ft.

The new facility, being created as part of the Hyderabad GRID (Growth in Dispersion) initiative, is set to create 50,000 employment opportunities, both direct and indirect.

Speaking on the occasion, KTR said that the tower was being constructed at a cost of Rs 700 crore, and would be completed in 36 months.

KTR also promised a skywalk from the nearby Metro station to the tower as was done at Raidurg station in the city.

The minister also said that he would lead a delegation along with Asaduddin Owaisi to the United States and the Middle East countries to get more IT companies to launch their operations here.

KTR also said that this is just a trailer, and that much more work would be done in the Old City. Beautification of the river Musi, an expressway from the western part of the ORR to the eastern part covering 55 km, and expansion of the Hyderabad Metro network to 415 km would be taken up in the next term, KTR claimed.

Addressing the meeting, AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for speaking lies against the Telangana government in the public meeting held in Mahabubnagar.

He also thanked KTR for developing the IT sector in Hyderabad, and said that the T-Hub developed by the State government was helping the youth in developing their skills and achieving new heights in their careers.
