The Andhra Pradesh government has announced that it will develop the Kondaveedu fort in Guntur district into a famous tourism spot.
Home minister Mekathoti Sucharita said that the fort was a symbol of the valiance and glory of the Reddy rulers of the state, and that the government would take all possible steps to protect the heritage.
She made these remarks while addressing a Kondaveedu development meeting at Ramannapeta, held by the Kondaveedu Heritage Society.
Speaking on the occasion she said that the Kondaveedu fort was renowned for its role in the fights against various enemies across many centuries.
She said that she had grown up watching the fort, and that route leading to the fort was in bad shape during her childhood days. She said that Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had come up with grand plans to develop the fort as soon as he became the CM of the state, and that the development works of the fort would be intensified after the Covid-19 threat was over.
The chairman of the Society Shiva Reddy brought up the issue of the narrow road between Firangipuram and the fort, and Sucharita said that she would take steps for the expansion of the road between Ameenabad and the fort.
The meeting was chaired by the chairman of the Anti-Liquor Publicity Committee P Lakshmana Reddy.
