Union Minister Kishan Reddy's Musi Nidra (Musi river nightstay) program concluded today.
He stayed at the house of an Amboji Shankaramma in the Musi river catchment area on Saturday night along with local party leaders. After waking up in the morning and completing his morning ablutions, he mingled with the local people. He also had breakfast at the homes of some basthi residents in Tulsi Ram Nagar of the Amberpet Assembly constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, he told the people that the BJP would stand by them no matter how many bulldozers came to the area, and would guard their homes. He asked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to change his attitude at least now in the issue.
Speaking to media persons later, he alleged that the State government had declared war on the poor people of the State capital and was demolishing their houses without compunction. He claimed that the CM had announced that he would run bulldozers over the houses of the poor and those who obstructed to the demolitions of illegal houses, and that there was horror among the residents of the affected areas for fear of the future.
Speaking about Shankaramma whose house he had stayed at overnight, he said that her husband was an auto-rickshaw driver and that the couple and their four sons were living in four floors of that house. "They told me that they had been living in that house for the last 40 years, and asked where they should go if their house was demolished by Revanth Reddy. Every house in this area has a similar story. Nine people died of fear after the announcement of the CM that he would demolish the houses in the Musi catchment area," he said.
Reddy said that the State government was demolishing the houses of the poor in the Musi river catchment area but had not laid the foundation stones for the construction of alternate houses for them in any place of the State so far.
He also demanded that the State government first stop the contamination of Musi river from the pollutants released into it from various parts of the city and its surrounding areas before demolishing the houses of the poor.
