Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to brief him on the situation in the state following the tabling of the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee Report on the contentious separate Telangana statehood issue.
Kiran Kumar Reddy is believed to have also brought up the issue of a revised relief package for the rain-hit farmers in the state who have been reeling under severe economic hardships following successive natural calamities during his 20-minute long meeting.
According to sources, the issue of separate statehood took centre stage in the meeting, with the Prime Minister being briefed about the views expressed by separate statehood protagonists as well as integrationists.
The meeting comes days before the crucial all-party meeting to be convened by the centre in which the 8 major political parties in Andhra Pradesh have been asked to submit their opinions on the 6 options given by the Srikrishna Panel in its report.
The Chief Minister also held meeting with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, and discussed the situation in the state, particularly after the tabling of the Srikrishna Committee Report.
