Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari on Saturday assured the Telangana Legislative Assembly that the state government would implement the KG-to-PG free education scheme from the next academic year.
Replying to a question raised by legislators P Ajay Kumar and others during Question Hour, the Deputy CM said that a concept paper on KG-to-PG free education was under preparation, and that the same would be reviewed later by experts.
He said that the government would seek the opinion of the common people and all political parties on the concept paper before giving it a final shape.
He reiterated that the government was serious on implementing the scheme.
Speaking about EAMCET, he said that there were so many engineering colleges in the State that there was no need to conduct any entrance for engineering aspirants. However, he said that the medicine students were being admitted on the basis of a common entrance test.
The Deputy CM also said that the government was taking measures to rationalise the ratio of teachers to students to 1:30 across the state. He also assured that the candidates who had qualified through the DSC would be recruited soon.
He also warned private education institutions of stern action if they failed to implement the Right To Education Act.
However, Congress MLA T Jeevan Reddy and BJP floor leader Dr Lakhman expressed doubts over the implementation of the KG-to-PG free education scheme. (INN)
