Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today informed the State Assembly that the TRS government was committed to provide quality education to the SC, ST, BC and other minority communities in the Telangana.
During the Question Hour in the Assembly, the Deputy Chief Minister replied to the queries posed by former Minister D K Aruna and CPM member S Rajaiah on education facilities for minorities, and promised to improve it with modern facilities and technology, and staff.
Aruna wanted the State government to set up a woman's college in the Jogulamba-Gadwal district. The much-awaited KG-to-PG Education scheme was yet to be implemented in several villages, she claimed.
Rajaiah wanted the TRS government to withdraw its proposal to shift the 'gurukul' school allotted to Bhadrachalam to another place. The special school should be started in the temple town and enable its children to get better education, the CPM leader demanded. He also asked the government to set up a government degree college at Charla and a women's college at Bhadrachalam town.
Srihari, who holds the Education portfolio, said that he would look into those demands and added that as part of the KG-to-PG project, the government had so far launched 266 schools out of the sanctioned 487, and 221 more gurukuls would be set up in 2017.
Stating that efforts were on to set up 30 gurukul schools for girls, Srihari said that vacant faculty posts and non-teaching staff posts would be filled soon.
