Congress Leader K Keshava Rao asks all Telangana leaders to unite, and demands that cases against protestors be lifted unconditionally.
Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao, on Saturday, revealed that he had called on leaders of all political parties from Telangana region, including Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao, senior Telugu Desam leader T Devender Goud and Telangana JAC convenor Prof. Kodandaram to unite and strengthen the Telangana movement.
Talking to media persons before leaving for Karimnagar to participate in the Martyrs' Meet there, Keshava Rao said that he had received positive response from the leaders over his proposal that they desist from criticizing each other.
Rao stated that he had told leaders that criticism of each other would cause immense harm to the movement for Telangana.
Keshava Rao's efforts are seen as a part of the Telangana region's Congress leaders' campaign to take the limelight away from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi of espousing the cause of a separate state, even as the deadline for the Srikrishna Commission to submit its report on the contentious issue of bifurcation of the state draws close.
The Rajya Sabha member also reminded that the State government had, on Thursday, ordered the lifting of cases against students and protesters who had participated in the pro and anti bifurcation of the state agitations, albeit with the condition that the cases would be decided on merit and would take about 2 months for the process to be completed. He demanded that all the cases be withdrawn immediately and unconditionally.
The staunch Telangana protagonist also requested the students not to waste their lives by taking the extreme step of resorting to suicides. He said that giving their lives to display their dismay is counter-productive, since their physical presence was needed for the separate statehood agitations.
Earlier, the Telangana Congress leaders paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Bhavan.
Senior party leaders K Keshava Rao, K Jana Reddy, D K Aruna, Raja Narasimha, G Vivek, Manda Jagannadham, Sarve Sathyanarayana, Suresh Shetkar, Balaram Naik, Vinod, Yadava Reddy, Palvai Govardhan, K Laxma Reddy and K Sridhar were present.
