TPCC chief and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy today lashed out at Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and said that the latter had a habit of talking about welfare programs whenever any election was coming up in the state to secure electoral benefits for his party, the TRS.
Continuing his attack on the CM, Reddy asked him if the government would announce welfare schemes only for the constituencies headed for elections. To strengthen his point, he cited the recently announced Dalit Bandhu scheme.
"The Dalit Bandhu scheme has been implemented only in Huzurabad yet. Is this because a by-election will be organised in the constituency soon? I would like to ask our CM what about the welfare of the Dalits living in the remaining 118 constituencies of Telangana. He should know that the Congress will not keep mum if he cheats the Dalit community of the state," the TPCC chief asserted.
"Our party will honour the Dalits through a girijana dandora program that will begin on August 9 and will go on till September 17. It will be launched in the presence of 1 lakh people at Adilabad district's Indravelli village. The date for the launch is of special significance, coinciding with the start of the Quit India movement," he added.
The TRS government in the state has been drawing enormous flak for launching the Dalit Bandhu scheme from Huzurabad as many leaders of the Opposition feel that this has been done to pocket votes for the upcoming by-election in the constituency.
