KCR Slams Nirmala Sitharaman For Refusing Funds To Telangana
The CM claimed that the union minister "admitted" that the Centre had refused funds to Telangana for not installing electric metres at agricultural pumpsets.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today came down heavily on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman who he claimed "admitted" that the Centre had refused to give funds to Telangana for not installing electric metres at the agricultural pumpsets.
Addressing a Praja Aashirwada Sabha at Suryapet, the CM said that Sitharaman had "shamelessly" admitted that the Centre would not give funds to Telangana.
"We are completely aware of the geographical conditions of Telangana, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi doesn't know about the conditions of the farmers in Telangana. Modi insisted that the BRS government install electric metres at agriculture pumpsets, but I refused his proposal and categorically told him that I was ready to sacrifice my life for the farmers but that my government would not allow such proposal. As a result, the Centre refused a grant of Rs 25,000 crore to Telangana," KCR claimed.
He reiterated that the BRS government would not work against the wishes of the farmers, and that it was ready to fight with any party to protect the interests of the farmers.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao too slammed the statement of Sitharaman, and said that the Chief Minister would not allow installation of electric metres at the agricultural pumpsets as long as the BRS was in power.
He called upon the people not to cast a single vote in favour of the BJP in the upcoming Assembly elections as the union government had failed to give funds to Telangana and was working against the interests of Telangana.
