TRS supremo and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today slammed the BJP government at the Centre and the Supreme Court for denying 12% reservation to the Muslim minorities and the Scheduled Tribes.
"Why is the Centre denying 12% reservations to the Muslims and STs? It is just the arrogance and headstrong attitude of the Congress and the BJP which should be rejected by the people. Supreme Court is giving verdicts as the Centre is not able to address the issues," KCR said.
He expressed his displeasure at the union government and the apex court for stoutly denying the push of the Telangana government to increase the quota for the minorities and STs, who need support from the government, and added that different states needed different schemes and programs, something which ought to be respected by the Centre.
KCR also said that the state governments needed more autonomy in deciding the welfare schemes to be implemented in their states, and alleged that the governments at the Centre, both the Congress and the BJP, were seeking supremacy over the education, health and other sectors in the states. He also said that just a need-based support from the Centre in the education,
health, agricultural and industrial sectors would suffice, and that the Centre should instead focus on the nation-wide issues like the terrorism and naxalism.
"Why are terrorism and naxalism still prevalent in the country, and who is responsible for this? The Centre should take the necessary steps to address those issues," KCR said.
KCR also said that he would return the gift of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu - the latter's meddling in Telangana politics - by getting involved in AP politics himself, and added that he had received over one lakh messages from AP to play a role there.
