KCR Slams Centre For Not Resolving Krishna Water Sharing Issue
Hyderabad | 4th December 2022
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today lashed out at the BJP government at the Centre for "failing to resolve" the Krishna river water sharing dispute between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Addressing a public meeting at MVS College in Mahabubnagar, the Chief Minister said that the TRS government had written 150 letters to the Centre urging it to resolve the issue immediately. "Unfortunately, eight years have passed, but there has been no response from the Centre and the issue remains the same till today," KCR lamented.
The Chief Minister also alleged that the Centre was not co-operating with Telangana for the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, and that because of that the Telangana government could not complete it.
He said that despite all that, the State government would soon start the construction of irrigation canals in the Maktal, Kodangal and Narayanpet areas, and exuded confidence that the day would come soon where about 25-30 lakh acres of land would come under cultivation in the Mahabubnagar district.
"Due to the Centre's inefficient policies, Telangana has lost about Rs 3.5 lakh crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed to meet the aspirations of the people not just of Telangana but across the country. He is not able to provide the basic needs for the people in the country. It is very unfortunate to that the national capital itself is still facing a scarcity of water," KCR claimed.
Telangana however was witnessing rapid progress in various sectors and its people were receiving many benefits under several welfare schemes, so much so that the people living in the Raichur area of Karnataka and the Nanded area of Maharashtra had been demanding that their areas be merged with Telangana, KCR said.
He said that the youth and the intellectuals should think over the political developments that were happening in the country, and asked them to take up an active role for bringing changes in the society.
Earlier in the day, the CM inaugurated the new integrated district collectorate complex of Mahabubnagar district near Palakonda, and made district Collector S Venkata Rao sit in his new chair.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM asked government officials and employees to strive for excellence in the implementation of government schemes with a humane approach.
"Over the last seven to eight years, we have transformed from a State from a Rs 60,000 crore budget to a Rs 2.5 lakh crore budget. Similarly, we have emerged as the State with the highest per capita power consumption from being a power deficit State after bifurcation. Nobody even dreams of implementing welfare and development programs like those in Telangana," KCR said.
Ministers S Niranjan Reddy and V Srinivas Goud along with several MLAs and others elected representatives participated in the program.
