Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today visited Rajanna Sircilla district, inspected the Mid Manair (Sri Raja Rajeswara) reservoir, and offered prayers at the Vemulawada Raja Rajeswara temple.
KCR, along with his family members, traveled in a special bus to the Vemulawada temple. The priests and officials accorded a warm welcome to them with the poornakumbham. After worshipping the presiding deity, the Chief Minister had discussions with the priests and officials on the temple's development works.
KCR later proceeded to the Mid Manair reservoir and inspected it. He offered prayers to the river Godavari there. Probably for the first time, the reservoir was filled to capacity, as 2.4 TMC of waters had been pumped from the Kaleswaram lift irrigation scheme into it, and KCR expressed happiness at that. At the Thangellapally bridge, he offered haarathi to the waters.
The CM then visited the project site in the Boinpally mandal. He also inspected the Ananthasar and Mallannasagar works, and instructed the officials to complete the works early.
Ministers K T Rama Rao, Etala Rajender, Indrakaran Reddy and Gangula Kamalakar, and officials accompanied the Chief Minister in the tour.
The visit wasn't totally uneventful, though - as the Chief Minister's convey was proceeding towards Mid Manair, some of the people whose lands got submerged by the project suddenly came onto the road and tried to stop the vehicles, shouting protest slogans. But the alert police present there pushed them aside and allowed to convey to proceed.
