KCR Distributes Cash Prizes To Sportspersons
Many long-pending cash awards were finally given today by the Telangana Chief Minister, including to Saina Nehwal and Gagan Narang.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday gave cash prizes to sports personalities of Telangana who had won medals in different sports events.
The sportspersons were honoured with shawls, citations and cheques ranging from Rs 3 lakhs to Rs 50 lakhs during the Independence Day celebrations at the Golconda Fort.
Badminton star Saina Nehwal was given two cheques of Rs 50 lakhs and Rs 20 lakhs for her bronze medal in the London Olympics and her gold medal in the Australian Open Series Singles.
Likewise, Gagan Narang was given three cheques of Rs 50 lakhs, Rs 25 lakhs and Rs 15 lakhs for his Bronze Medal in the London Olympics, and his silver and bronze medals respectively in the CWG 2014.
Badminton star Parupalli Kashyap was presented with two cheques, one of Rs 50 lakhs for winning a gold medal in the men's singles event in the CWG 2014, and one of Rs 25 lakhs for reaching the quarter-finals in the Olympics in the men's singles event in 2012.
P V Sindhu too got cheques of Rs 25 lakhs and Rs 15 lakhs for winning a bronze medal in the World Cup Championships of 2013 and a bronze medal in the women's singles event at the CWG 2014 respectively.
Jwala Gutta was given a prize of Rs 25 lakhs for winning a silver medal in the women's doubles event in the CWG 2014, and Guru Sai Dutt got Rs 15 lakhs for winning a bronze medal in the men's singles event in the CWG 2014.
Nikhat Zareen was presented with Rs 50 lakhs for winning a gold medal in the World International Women's Boxing event, and Rs 15 lakhs were given to the Kabaddi World Cup 2013 gold medalist Mamata Pujari.
Srikanth Kidambri (badminton) and B Aruna Reddy (gymnastics) were given Rs 3 lakhs each for their participation in international sports.
Badminton coaches Pullela Gopichand and Mohd Arif were also given Rs 50 lakhs and Rs 25 lakhs respectively.
Malavath Poorna and Anand Kumar, who recently climbed Mount Everest, received Rs 25 lakhs each, while their trainer Shekhar Babu was also presented with a cheque of Rs 25 lakhs.
Malavath and Anand got a standing ovation from the crowd when they received the cheque from the Chief Minister. (INN)
