Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today said that the Budget for 2022-23 introduced by the Centre had put the SC, ST, BC, minorities and farming communities, the poor, people of hereditary professions, and salaried employees, to unhappiness and utter disappointment.
He said that the Budget had no direction or intent, and termed it useless and purposeless. The entire Budget speech by the union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman was completely hollow and just jugglery with words, a "golmaal budget", and the union government had just heaped praises on itself while putting the common man to unhappiness, he claimed.
He lamented that the Budget was a big zero for the farming and agriculture sector, and had nothing for the handloom sector either.
He said that it had left bitterness among the salaried employees and small traders, too.
"It is unfortunate that the Budget did not change the income tax slabs. Both the employees and trading community were anxiously looking forward for changes in the income tax slabs, and the Centre poured cold water on their hopes," he said.
"The Centre has also clearly neglected the public health and basic infrastructure sectors," he said. "The health and infrastructure sectors are being developed all over the world from the time the pandemic started. Our union government however did not even think on those lines. And it is unfortunate. Despite the havoc wreaked by the coronavirus, no efforts are being put in to develop the medical and health sector in the country. It is surprising that the Centre is so not bothered about the public health," the CM said.
