The state government will start a 2100 MW gas-based power plant in Karimnagar district, said chief minister K Rosaiah on Monday. The CM added that he had spoken to Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee and Union petroleum minister Murli Deora over the phone in this regard.
Rosaiah revealed that he had requested the Union ministers to ensure that there was no diversion of the gas required for the power plant.
The Chief Minister was also reportedly instrumental in getting this issue included on the agenda of the Central Empowered Group of Ministers Committee, which is meeting on November 9.
The issue of diversion of gas for the proposed plant at Karimnagar was missing on the Committee's agenda earlier.
Union Minister Murli Deora is said to have informed the chief minister that the issue would be on the Central Committee's agenda.
