The relentless efforts made by Telangana IT & Industries Minister K T Rama Rao fructified with the Centre giving the nod for the inclusion of Karimnagar in the list of Smart Cities.
Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu announced a total of 30 places in the third Smart Cities list, which have Karimanagar in Telangana (Hyderabad and Warangal were already selected earlier) and Amaravathi in Andhra Pradesh among others.
Naidu said that Rs 57,393 crores had been allotted for the development of Smart Cities, and that the Smart Cities Mission and PMEY schemes would be launched on June 25.
Hailing the Centre's decision, KTR thanked Naidu and urged the Centre to immediately release the funds to Telangana under various heads.
