Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today heaped praises on the government staff of the state, including the district Collectors, for working hard to control the spread of Covid-19.
Speaking at a video conference with the district Collectors, he also said that the curfew imposed by the state government from May 5 had yielded very good results in curbing the spread of the fatal disease in AP, and added that not only had case figures plummeted as a result but also that the positivity rate in the state had seen a substantial decline.
He then urged the officials of the state to continue the ongoing vaccination drive and fever survey.
Talking about the lockdown restrictions in the state, Jagan revealed that the curfew would continue till June 20 and that even beyond that, some restrictions would still be implemented alongside certain relaxations.
At the review meeting, the CM also spoke about the distribution of house pattas, the progress in the construction of free housing units for the poor, the availability of seeds and fertilisers for the Kharif season, and the status of health clinics.
"Nobody should become complacent and think that Covid-19 cases have hit zero in the state. We must all remember that the pandemic will be defeated only by taking the prescribed precautions. Let's all follow these and continue to wear face masks, and practice social distancing. These small measures should become an inextricable part of our daily lives," he asserted.
Speaking of the Covid-19 treatment facilities in AP, Jagan stated that out of 16,000 patients, 14,000 were availing themselves of the treatment under the Aarogyasri healthcare scheme run by his government.
He asked the private hospital management bodies in AP not to charge more than the amounts prescribed by the state government, and instructed the Collectors not to hesitate in closing down any private hospitals that were found looting their patients.
