The CM has asked the Principal Secretary (Energy) to issue strict orders to DISCOMS directly to see to it that IT companies are exempted from statutory power cuts.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday directed officials to see to it that the Mee Seva service is extended to 100 services at the earliest, and that the services be delivered on a time-bound programme.
The Chief Minister today reviewed issues pertaining to the IT&C department with Ministers and officials at the Secretariat. He asked the Principal Secretary (Energy) to issue strict orders to DISCOMS directly to see to it that IT companies are exempted from statutory power cuts as this has been assured under the ICT policy.
Officials explained that Mee Seva, which was launched in Chittoor District on 4 November 2011, is presently providing 58 services pertaining to revenue, registration, GHMC, municipalities, police and other departments. The present rate of transactions per day is 70,000, and the projected number of transactions, 1 lakh per day, which works out to 3 crore transactions per annum, the projected savings to the citizens being Rs.3,000 crores per annum. They said that Mee Seva had commemorated the completion of 1 crore transactions on 11th January, 2013.
As on 28 January, 2013, the total transactions are 1,07,73,365. The 58 services now being transacted include 34 from revenue, 2 from registration, 7 from GHMC, 4 from police, 3 from CDMA, 4 from civil supplies and 4 from district collectorate services. Services on the pipeline include those from agriculture, registration, municipality, revenue, transport, Election Commission, employment, education, labour, information commission, social welfare, scholarships, rural development, commercial taxes, excise, licences, PDS, RTI, certified copies etc.
The Chief Minister said that, to make easy the filing of FIRs in police stations, people-friendly front offices are being opened in every police station in the state. District-wise transactions show that Chittoor tops the list followed by Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy, Warangal, Mahabubnagar, Medak, Karimnagar, Khammam, Krishna, Nellore, Guntur, Kadapa, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Hyderabad, W.Godavari, Srikakulam, Vizag, Anantapur, E.Godavari, Kurnool and Prakasam in that order.
As far as IT growth and exports are concerned, Andhra Pradesh is ahead with 12.4 per cent of National IT exports, 11.4 per cent of National IT employment and AP's IT growth rate is 16 per cent (national growth rate is only 15.7 per cent) and AP's turnover now is Rs 53,246 crs and contributes to 39 per cent of the total exports from AP.
Hyderabad is in the second top position city-wise as far as IT growth is concerned. As far as built-up space is concerned, A.P. has grown 300 times by 2012 compared to what it was in 1999. Today there are 1268 IT companies compared to 1074 in 2010. Foundation has been laid for 2 IT incubation towers is 50,000 sq.ft at Visakhapatnam and 15,000 sq.ft in Kakinada and foundation stone at Tirupati and Warangal are to be laid shortly. As far as allotment of land to the IT companies at Raidurg and its cost are concerned, a Committee under Chief Secretary will be set up to finalise it.
The Chief Minister also directed the departments concerned to provide required infrastructure to TCS and Cognizant at Adibatla and for Wipro Campus at Gopanapally. Eligibility criteria for allotment of land at Tier-II/III locations to be relaxed and IALA (Industrial Local Area Development) status to be provided to Madhurawada IT lay out in Visakhapatnam. It was also decided that Hyderabad will have 4G expansion which is a standard in mobile network technology and stands for fourth generation - the latest after 2nd and 3rd generation. Hyderabad will be third city after Delhi and Bombay in the country.
