The national cricket-cum-Bollywood-cum-marketing-cum-advertising extravaganza is back, and how. After a glittering inaugural ceremony that featured YB40's Ali Campbell, Bjorn Again, Deepika Padukone, a laser show, juggling artists and a fireworks display, the defending champions Deccan Chargers were all set to play the opening match against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Angelo Mathews led the Kolkata Knight Riders to a stunning victory. While the Chargers, the 2009 champions, got off to a dream start after electing to bowl, they ultimately lost by 11 runs. They chased a 162-run target set by the Knight Riders, who lost 4 wickets. The Chargers finished at 150, after having lost 7 wickets.
