The India Meteorological Department predicted moderate rainfall over the south coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 48 hours.
According to the IMD, the depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal was moving westwards, and lay centred at 5:30pm on Monday at about 650 km east-northeast of Chennai and 440 km southeast of Visakhapatnam. The system would move west-southwestwards towards south Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu coasts and weaken into a well marked low pressure area during next 12 hours.
Under the influence of this system, moderate rainfall is expected to occur at many places across the south coastal Andhra Pradesh, north coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Wednesday and Thursday. Sea conditions along and off Andhra Pradesh coast will be rough during next 24 hours.
Fishermen along Andhra Pradesh, north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts have been advised to be cautious while venturing into sea during next 24 hours. (INN)
