The Army authorities have explained the reasons to curb the movements of the civilian traffic on the Army roads, at a meeting held today with RWAs? representatives and members of the neighboring colonies surrounding the AOC Centre in Secunderabad.
There was an overwhelming response to the curbing of traffic on the aforementioned roads, and more than 60 RWAs representatives - including presidents, secretaries and members - attended the meeting.
Army authorities, at the outset, mentioned that they will fully abide by the orders of the honorable High Court of Andhra Pradesh on the issue.
Notwithstanding the above statement, they explained their point of view, mentioning that these roads are on A-1 defence lands, which are maintained and managed purely under the Army's authority.
Senior Army officers said that while they are fully sensitive to the general public's inconvenience, and accommodative to the concerns of the civil commuters, a permanent long-term solution needs to be provided by the civil administration.
The Army representatives also stressed that this solution should include infrastructural improvement on existing municipal roads connecting these colonies.
They said that their intention was not to cause harassment to the residents. However, they maintained, the civilians must realise the constraints of the army and co-operate in the matter. (INN)
