Heavy Inflows To Osman Sagar, Himayat Sagar

The heavy rains in the twin cities have resulted in the water level in the Hussain Sagar too crossing the full-tank level.
Hyderabad | 26th July 2022
Heavy rains lashed several parts of Hyderabad in the early hours leaving a number of colonies in low-lying areas inundated.

Due to a further increase in inflows to the Osman Sagar reservoir, six crest gates were raised from four feet to six feet in height, releasing water into the Musi.

The Himayat Sagar reservoir too is getting heavy inflows due to rains in its catchment area in Vikarabad district.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) opened three more gates of the Himayat Sagar on Tuesday. Currently, four gates of the reservoir are open up to one foot.

The water level in the reservoir was recorded at 1,760.90 feet against the FTL of 1,763.50 feet, 1,320 cusecs was the recorded outflow, and 1,200 cusecs was the recorded inflow.

Meanwhile, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officials are monitoring the Hussain Sagar too as the water level has crossed the FTL. The water level in the lake located right in the middle of the city was recorded at 513.48 m against the FTL of 513.41 m.
