Minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav announced that Rs. 52 crore and Rs. 42 crore had been sanctioned for the construction of new bridges at Moosarambagh and Chadarghat respectively in the city.
Ministers Yadav and Mahmood Ali visited the Moosarambagh and Chadarghat bridges which were closed due to heavy inflow of flood waters into the Musi river, and reveiwed the situation with officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Yadav said that the proposed construction of the new bridges would be taken up under the Strategic Nala Development Program (SNDP) to ensure that low areas were not inundated.
"The works on the proposed new bridge at Moosarambagh will be commenced in the next 10 days, and no traffic will be allowed for nine months on this route," he said.
Stating that under the SNDP the storm water drain network in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits and its vicinity was being revamped, the minister also promised that the retaining wall along the Musi river paths would be constructed and completed by the next monsoon season.
Meanwhile, the Moosarambagh bridge was opened to the public and vehicular movement was allowed on Friday with the flood water receding in the Musi river.
