Car-Free-Thursdays By IT Industry Completes 1 Year

The "Car Free Thursday" initiative launched in Hyderabad by the IT community to encourage IT sector employees to use public transport, carpooling and cycles to work, has completed one year.
Launched on August 6, 2015, the initiative was spearheaded by HYSEA, TSRTC and TSIIC in association with the Cyberabad Security Council, CyKul, RideIT, WRIIndia, IdentCity, ACT Carpool, Commut, Ascendas, Zify, ITFAN & H2O Cab, Extent IT Solutions, Sride, Polaris, Raasta Studios and other IT companies.
To mark the 1st anniversary, a function was organized by the industry and was attended by Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, HYSEA's president Ranga Pothula and ex-President Ramesh Loganathan, and others.
Mayor Rammohan said that the GHMC would soon launch a public bicycle rental facility in the Hitech City area. Under this scheme, commuters will be able to rent bicycles from a residential area to reach their destination, he said. A document on the way forward on the initiative was presented on the occasion by him. He also unveiled a new poster to mark the first anniversary of the occasion.
IT Park volunteers who played a key role in the initiative were recognized and felicitated.
