In a major respite to the Telangana government, the High Court stayed its order to quash the GO 123 which specified the compensation to be offered for land acquisition for the Mallanna Sagar reservoir.
The government pleader told the media that he had apprised the division bench on the measures that were being taken to provide rehabilitation, relief and resettlement to the farmers who would be affected by the proposed reservoir.
The bench, upon hearing arguments from both the sides, directed the State government to submit a copy of a fresh GO by this Thursday incorporating the details of the compensation and rehabilitation package mentioned by the pleader.
The court stated that further orders pertaining to the case would be announced only if the details of the fresh GO were satisfactory.
