Acting on a tip-off, the Hyderabad police today raided Club Tequila Cafe & Bar situated in Ramgopalpet, Secunderabad, on Saturday night for "illegal" activities including engaging girls to perform obscene gestures/dances and violating the excise rules.
During the raid, the officers noticed some eight women indulging in obscene acts and exposing their bodies. Besides, the music was playing beyond permissible levels. The management of the club had basically converted the pub into a dance bar, the police said.
Nalini Reddy, the managing director of the club; N Ravi, Accountant/Manager; B Hari Krishna and Syeda Zareen, DJs; B Prakash, cashier; and eight girls and five customers, 18 persons in all, were arrested, the police said.
Pub owner Gyarala Vijay Kumar Goud of Bowenpally was found absconding.
The police also seized a DJ mixer and other audio equipment.
This is the third case registered against the management of the pub.
